This 1968 GT500, Shelby #1997 in the SAAC Registry underwent a complete restoration less than 2,000 miles ago.  This car was restored to be used the way Carroll intended, to be driven. 

Still, 2,000 miles of paved roads during sunny summer days proved easy work for this fresh built 428 "Police Interceptor"/C6 Auto, #’s matching, drive train. 

This is an EXTREMELY CLEAN driver.  She sports all original sheet metal, no evidence of replacement or patch panels here.  The doors open and close just fine.  Fenders could be better aligned to achieve the uniform body gap between the front fenders and doors to be worthy of the points judging. 

The engine bay is clean, but would need to be detailed in order to be show worthy.  Other details, like swapping out the Interstate Battery for the date code correct Autolite would also need to be done.

The interior is clean and shows little to no wear.  Everything works great, even the tilt-away steering wheel!  Likewise, the convertible top with glass back light is like new, fitting tight and sealing well.

The underbody is also in very good condition.  All the working parts of the suspension were taken care of in the restoration, along with the installation of a new exhaust system.

Only 402, or less than 10% of Shelby's in 1968 were made as convertible GT500's  With a healthy 360 factory rated horsepower on tap.  It is a wonder more people didn't elect for top down fun!  No matter, you can make this one yours now.

For the purposes of inspection, the car is located in Seattle, WA.  It is still titled as a California car.
