Listing Details: 1969  '69 Buick Riviera, 430 Big Block fresh rebuild!

SOLD! SOLD!
Description:

This 1969 Buick Riviera is a highly original, unrestored example with a few modifcations to make day to day driving more practical and lifting the hood on cruise night more satisfying.  The original 430 V8 was rebuilt 1500 miles ago, early last year.  A complete MSD iginition system and Edelbrock Performer intake give the Riv some kick in the rear and rock solid reliability.  A TH400 autmatic tranny transfer the power to the rear wheels.  A full Flowmaster system makes music from spend exhaust fumes.  Mainly driven to cars shows and dry summer nights, this lady of luxury is treated right. Owner states it needs nothing major in the way of repair or replacement. A complete walk around and driving inspection was completed by the owner just prior to auction:

Exterior & Body:

Blue is the current color of the car and matches the paint code shown on the trim tag. Showing normal wear for original paint, their is no evidence of body damage or panel replacement.  Side moldings could be detailed.  The left side of the bumper is slightly misaligned.  The car sits level; body panels fit uniformly, doors open and close with normal effort, showing no signs of door sag or collision. All factory original badges and trim pieces are correct and intact. Vacuum operated light doors do not work.

Chassis & Suspension:

Factory style reproduction tires are in very good condition, showing minimal & uniform wear, consistent with the mileage claimed on the restoration. There are no signs of dry rot or cracking. Factory equipped Buick mag wheels are in very good condition. All shocks and suspension related seals are dry with no wet spots found on the undercarriage. Exhaust and brake assemblies are also very good condition, showing minimal, if any wear.

Interior:

Again, interior is in good condition and shows consistently with the rest of the vehicle. An added three gauge pod provides the driver with information for oil, temp, and volts, replacing the luxo-only idiot lights.  All of the gauges and accessory lights work properly.  Power windows and locks also work fine. The factory clock does not work.  Climate controls are connected, but the heater and A/C are not operational. Door seals and window glass show good fitment and seal well.  Accommodations have been made in door and rear quarter panels for a modern speaker system.  Interior surfaces, carpeting, and headliner are all in very good condition, free from any significant flaws, damage, or excessive wear.

Engine:

Upon inspection of the front and rear main seals, oil pan, master cylinder, and all cooling lines, engine bay appears clean with no fluid leaks or residue. All fluids are clean and at their appropriate levels.

Test Drive:

The original, numbers matching 430 cubic inch V8 starts with the first turn of the key, idles steady within the normal RPM range and accelerates well with no sputtering, flat spots or bogging. Temperature and Oil Pressure are normal and do not fluctuate during hard acceleration. Engine runs smooth with no valve chatter, excessive vibration, or exhaust manifold or system leaks.
Automatic transmission shifts as smooth as it did in 1969. Car drives out quiet and confident with no squeaks or rattles. Cars tracks straight with no drifting. Steering is smooth and responsive. Car maintains a straight line when braking with hands off of the wheel. Likewise, the car remains smooth and tracks true under hard acceleration.

Summary:

This is a combination of a well maintained unrestored car with minor mechanical and interior refurbishent, most importantly the feshly rebuilt engine.  The car is in very good condition.  Anyone looking for a turn key summer driver that they can bring to local cruise nights and lawn shows, this Buick Riviera fits the bill.
