Most Shelby Aficianados agree that the 1967 Shelby GT350 is the best looking of all Shelbys produced. The 289CI Hi-Po V8 made a tremendous 306 bhp and had a high-revving 6500 rpm redline. Over 1 bhp per cubic inch was unheard of in 1967.
#2738 is the real thing, no doubt about it. We have an extensive owner history, shipped to Holiday Ford of Sunnyvale, CA on July 18, 1967. The second owner brought this California queen to Minnesota in 1972 and has remained there ever since. Owner paperwork included hand written accounts of the work remain with the SAAC has confirmation that the Ford and Shelby VINs are a cross reference match. The Marti Report confirms that she appears exactly as she did when delivered new.
Unlike other small-block muscle cars of the era, the GT350 was sure footed, felt more "tossable" through turns and curves- even compared to much of the competition yet to come. The woodgrain steering wheel and aluminum accented dash were world-class accouterments, feeling more like European Grand Touring cars than the low-rent scantiness of her muscle car cousins. The 1967 Shelby GT350 was, and is, a road car. This example in particular, finished in Nightmist Blue, drives out with all the wanton abandon you could ever desire.
For those enthusiasts who do drive their 401k, this Shelby does do it all. This no leaky garage troll that just sucks on your pocket book every time you walk by, this one is primed and ready for action. She is dry underneath, not a drip and tight on the road. Point her where you want with the hardwood wheel in hand and she answers "As you wish."
It is not too often that you find a Shelby this original and intact. She feels pristine, the original red-oxide drips still cling petrified to her floor pans. All the original fiberglass, body panels, original Magstar wheels, and engine components remain. The 10 year old repaint has held up well, a testament to the owner's care for this Shelby. The Thermactor smog system has been side aside and is included in the sale. Her original motor was rebuilt with bronze hardened valve seats to run unleaded. At the same time, she received forged TRW 10.5:1 pistons, LeMans cam shaft, and a fully polished crank.
She is everything you are looking for in a muscle car. While she has an impeccable pedigree, this is no uptight, high maintence concours belle who won't let you muss her hair. She loves to go for a drive whenever you want to, she is a breathtaking to look at and at the same time, she don't mind if you touch her and won't keep spending your money. All the accessories work, as do all the lights. She is a true wild beauty, well cared for, respected and enjoyed. Unlike all the painted ladies out there loitering dealer lots, offering their wares, this one is for real.
Listen to her run.
