Listing Details: 1970  '70 Plymouth 440 4speed Lime Light 'Cuda

$52,900.00 Seller's Agent
Description:

Did you know they made more 440 SIX PACK Cuda's than 4bbl cars in 1970? That is right, only 334 440/4bbl Cuda’s rolled of the assembly line in 1970.

She began as an extremely we preserved original purchased from a fellow Mopar enthusiast who had kept the car garaged and maintained since 1983.  Hi-Impact Limelight/Sublime FJ5 Green, 4spd Transmission, Rallye dash, Rallye wheels, this one has all the right stuff and the broadcast sheet to prove it!

Because the current owner wanted drive it, he chose to do a ground up restoration, retaining as much of the original patina as he could. In a world comprised of extremes, over the top jewelry pieces or ragged out projects waiting to happen, it is refreshing to see a highly original, intact car become a high quality, reliable driver that you can really experience. You will enjoy driving it and want to be SEEN driving it.

Documentation/Originality:

Documentation includes original door sticker, original fender tag, and factory broadcast sheet. The engine block is not original, (likely an over-the-counter replacement block). All body numbers match, cowl, radiator, and trunk rail have all been checked.

Engine/Mechanical:

The engine compartment is clean and neat, original finishes and details abound right down to the factory style hose clamps. As part of the restoration, the entire drive train has been gone through. The engine was completely rebuilt from bottom to top. The transmission and rear-end were checked, serviced, and reinstalled. The 440 Super Commando V8 motor starts on the first or second turn of the key, idles strong and accelerates smoothly. This is no garage troll that needs to be gone through the moment you get it home. This is truly a turnkey experience. Everything that was needed to be done has been.

  • Rallye Wheels are Original Equipment (OE) 14" x 5.5" rims
  • Exhaust is custom bent high flow exhaust and performance muffers
  • Rear Wing is not an original option on the car
  • Front grill is OE and has no cracks or breaks
  • Tail panel is finished in smooth low gloss black, not organosol
  • All gauges and lights really work, wiring harnesses are new

    Interior:

The interior is in very good condition. The dash, carpeting, and headliner have been replaced. Door panels, console and front and rear seat covers are original free from rips, cracks, or significant wear. All the chrome and switchgear show minimal wear looking more like a restored vehicle than an original. The steering wheel shows the normal wear, the simulated wood grain pattern rubbed off over time. All accessories are functional. You can tell this car has led a life garage kept and well maintained.

    Paint/Body:

All of her exterior body panels were taken down to bare metal and prepped for repaint.  She now boasts a fresh factory correct shade of Limelight Green in base coat/clear coat with three coats of clear.  As with most Mopars, the quarters have been reskinned and the trunk pan is also new.  Everything was butt-welded and finished in all metal, done right. All the trim was removed before painting. The door jambs and inner fender aprons show off her factory original coat. Looking down each side of the car you will notice how straight the panels are, how well they align to one another and how uniform the panel gaps are. The trunk and hood sit and align with the same quality of fit. She is dressed and ready for the limelight, impressive at 20 feet, 10 feet, 5 feet, even on close inspection. Overall, the paint stands tall for a driver quality vehicle, the kind that can take trophies and local and regional drive-in car shows.

    Chassis/Undercarriage:

Underbody floor pans retain the factory undercoat and a fresh coat of satin black to fend off rock chips.  No hidden rust issues here.  Suspension components likewise show minimal wear consistent with a ground up restored, garage kept vehicle. The trunk is also very clean being freshly painted. She has a new repop trunk mat and correct jack, but no spare. She also boasts a new set of Rallye Wheels, trim rings, and Goodyear Eagle GT II tires.

    Driving Impressions:

Starting the car cold she fires to life on the first turn of the key. She accelerates strong and hard, without hesitation or bogging. Taking your hands of the wheel allows the car to track straight on its own. Braking was also smooth and linear, with no wander or veer even under hard braking with hands off the wheel. The ride quality is also remarkable, a gratifying rumble from the exhaust combined with a firm but smooth ride even over uneven pavement is gratifying. Steering feels firm, not much if any play, she is responsive and confidence inspiring.

If you are looking for a really clean driver with great documentation that also has a future as a true collectible, this is the one.
