#2781 is one of only 3 1968 Shelby GT350 4spd convertibles born red with tan interior.  Unlike most garage queens, this GT350 performs the function she was made for- taking on the open road.  Go ahead, strap in, turn the key, pick a coast and mash the gass pedal.  From Chicagoland to anywhere you will find satisfaction is driving this topless redhead down the open highway. All the accessories work, she is mechanically solid, so you can drive her without worry.

She is a driven example, not a concours trailered car,  but pay attention here to the quality and originality of this Shelby.  From hoses to the Goodyear Speedway 350 tires, she is factory correct.  Everywhere you look, inside, out, and underneath there is original components and factory detail.  The patina of the engine bay and undercarriage lend creedance to her street cred.  This is a vehicle that has been well maintained and lovingly preserved throughout her life.

She was originally ordered by Gotham Ford in NewYork in February of 1968, serialized in in May and scheduled to be built June 3rd and shipped the next day to Livonia, MI for completion.  However, #2781 was not shipped back to Gotham Ford, rather eventually assigned to Marv Tonkin Ford in Portand, Oregon.  Specific owner history goes back to 1987, she was first restored in 1988 and refeshed in 2003-2004.  All exterior trim is OEM Ford, including bumpers and fenders.  All fiberglass extentions are original Shelby with the exception of the driver' side headlight bucket and lower valance.  There is no known or observed accident damage. The frame rails, torque boxes, and front apron assemblies are believed original.  The workmanship is of high quality with good panel straightness, fit , and alignment.

The interior is in excellent, near new condition.   The dash and sun visors are original, and also in excellent condition.  All the orginal Shelby equippment is intact including the 140 MPH spredometer/8000 RPM, original console, original alt and oil preassure gauges, roll bar, and harnesses and all Shelby insignia.  The shifter handle is the correct OEM style with an operational reverse lock-out ring. 

Because she is one of only 3 '68 G350 convertibles ever created in striking Candy Apple Red over Saddle, #2781 was chosen to represent the Vintage Shelby Era at the Ford press preview of the new design '05 Mustang at Manhattan Ford in NYC during the New York Auto Show in April 2004.

The current owner dotes on the car, driving her and everage of 500 miles a years, keeping her in a climate controlled garage and detailing her after every outing.  Proven in both show and Go! arenas, this GT350 convertible will continue to bring an ever increasing return of both joy and investment.  Now that is having your red velvet cake and eating it to...
