6S1739 was sold new in April 1966 by Harr Motor's of Worchester, MA.  She presents today much as she was originally equipped when sold new out of the Harr Motor's showroom- As a Sapphire Blue with White LeMans stripes, and 4 speed transmission. Consistent with running production changes for 1966, she is also equipped with a hand-laid fiberglass hood stretched over a steel frame, 14x6” Magnum 500's shod in reproduction Goodyear polyglas tires and under ride traction bars. She does present with the '65 style side exit exhaust. She is also equipped with a Detroit Locker “No-Spin” rear end, a commonly dealer-installed option. An extra set if Torque Thrust II wheels shod with Goodyear Eagle GT II tires are available with the car.

Exterior: This car has been evaluated by professional inspector with 30 years of experience looking at and restoring 100's of vintage Shelby's and Mustangs characterized this paint and body as a way above average driver, extremely nice [near] #1 driver. The most significant paint and body flaw the inspector cited was some wax build up.  Only slight scratches, common on bright work, where noted on the front bumper, molding, and mirrors. Body panel fit is very good, everything fitting flush with even gaps all the way around. Rear quarters have been replaced with a full panel, seams blended in nicely in the door jambs.  Doors are hung and balanced, closing and latching with the push of a single finger.

Interior: The interior appears factory stock, highly original and in very good condition. The inspector made special note of the original seat belts. Overall, the interior is very clean, with no significant rips, scratches, or wear. All accessories work. Bright work and interior paintwork are in very good condition, showing a mild patina, typical of a well maintained, occasional driver. The wood steering wheel is in excellent condition.

Mechanical:
She passed a mechanical survey of the car with flying colors. All the fluids are clean and at the appropriate levels. There are no significant leaks noted on the engine, transmission, coolant or braking system. The car starts with the first turn of the key, idles steady and holds good oil pressure. All other gauges read within normal range. Brake pedal feels firm and linear through the pedal range. The clutch engages smoothly and quietly. The shifter is tight, steering smooth and responsive as one would expect from a Shelby of this vintage. The car drives out strong, handling well.

Engine Bay/Chassis: Engine bay is crisp, clean and show car detailed with correct details like factory style tower clamps on date coded hoses bearing the original Ford part numbers.  The 289 is the original, numbers matching motor, clearly visible is the Ford VIN on the stamp pad.  The transmission is a 4speed Top Loader, swapped out in lieu of the original T10 early in the car's life.  The stock rear differential case  is equipped with a Detroit Locker, a popular upgrade amongst Shelby owners.  All the major components on the original engine appear intact. The front floor pans appear to have been replaced, they are simply too nice when compared to the factory installed metal around them.  Closer inspection reveals that they were welded correctly into place at the factory seams. Rear floor pans, "GT" dual exhaust brackets, front and rear frame horns all appear intact, original, and correct.  She is not a trailer queen. The floor pans and suspension show weathering consistent with driving the car in dry weather.

Documentation:  The Ford serial number and Shelby VIN were verified by SAAC registrar, Howard Pardee 3/24/2006.  The car also includes a full complement of original and SAAC provided documentation including:

1. Order form #661526 dated 3/30/66 from Harr Ford to Shelby American.

2. Customer file invoice #000020 dated 4/14/66 from Shelby American to Harr Ford.

3. Internal memo dated 4/14/66 listing (41) GT350s and (1) Cobra shipped that day.

4. Delivery receipt #707 dated 4/14/66 listing (6) GT350s shipped to Harr Ford that day.

5. Warranty and policy form #6645 dated 8/3/66 for repair of the tachometer.

6. Warranty and policy form #6649 dated 9/12/66 for the replacement of the intake manifold gaskets.

7. Customer file credit memo #P12923 dated 2/24/67 for the repairs in #s 5 & 6 above.

The winning formula of the '65 GT350 was refined in '66 to include four new colors, the most stunning of which is the Sapphire Blue. This example has an unremarkable history, three previous owners, all long term, all took very good care of the car. The current owner keeps her in a climate controlled garaged in between sun drenched drives on the open road. She is highly original, well documented, and attractively optioned.  A copy of the professional inspection report as well as VIN stamps on the fender and engine block are available upon request.
If you are looking for a genuine Shelby experience, the one where you DRIVE the car, not just look at it, this Sapphire Blue beauty is the GT350 for you.
