'70 Mr. Norms Challenger T/A, Concours Restored, Original Drivetrain, Full Dealer Documents

This 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A sold new at Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge and is finished in Lemon Twist. The car is affectionately referred by the current owner as "The Screaming Yellow Zonker". Speaking of which, grab your popcorn, the story of this car also has plenty of twists and a sweet ending. When New Yorker Jeffery Deutsch first heard about the production of the T/A he knew exactly what he wanted; an Orange Challenger T/A four speed with 3.91 gears and quick ratio steering. Scouring the country, he was unable to find what he wanted except one place that claimed to carry anything you could ask for, Grand Spaulding Dodge. Only problem was he had to get to Chicago. So, he took Mr. Norm up on one of his famous ad lines "We'll fly you in from anyhwere." Once Jeff landed in Chicago, he discovered the ads touting Grand Spaulding Dodge's unrivaled selection was true. Here Challenger T/A's were so plentiful the dealership had to resort to using the street for parking space. From the time it took to book the plane ticket to landing, the Orange he originally has his eye on had sold by mistake. Mr. Norm offered to special order for him. After exploring all the inventory on the lot, Jeff found one with all the features he wanted, only it the came in Yellow. So Yellow it was! That was only the beginning of the cars storied existence. The car survived as long as it could as a street fighter, pounding the pavment of Long Island, New York. By the early 1980's she was tired. A full rotessorie restoration was believed to have started on the car but a dissagreement put the project on permanent hold. Eventually the body shell was suspended in the rafters of David Bagwin's Body Shop. By late 1985 (or early 1986) the project was forgotten about, the restoration process was stopped half way through. 18 Years later it was still hanging from the rafters of Bagwin's shop, still titled to it's first owner. David was looking to get rid of the car, taking up space and was for so long in pieces and parts. But through persistence Challenger T/A historian Barry Washington and friends, David was convinced to work out a compromise with Jeffery to sell the car as a whole. The current and second owner had the car completely concours restored in 2009 where is debuted during the Mopars at the Strip Show where Mr. Norm himself signed it. She still retains her original drivetrain and is documented with of her original owner documentation AND the complete Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge Dealer Jacket. It does not get better than this!
