'89 Mustang LX 5.0L 5spd, GT40 Intake, Kenny Brown Performance Suspension Built for Open Road and Closed Course, Priced to Sell FAST!
This 1989 Mustang LX 5.0L is ShowYourAuto' s original promotional vehicle. The Fox Body Mustang is the car that put the "muscle" back to the Muscle Car after a near 20 year hiatus. True, they didn't light up the tires right out of the showroom floor, but the popular 5.0L engine was well supported by the aftermarket performance world. With forged pistons, tune-friendly electronics, and lightweight body, the '89 Mustang LX was and still is a favorite amongst performance enthusiasts. This car in particular I've owned since 2005 and began as a rust-free, original body panel car, complete but completely tired. The original intent with the car was to build a charity outreach car to benefit Brakes for Brett and compete in the 2005 Grassroots Motorsports Challenge. Long story short, the car would not be ready in time. Over the course of several seasons we began a ground up restoration, working on it during the winters and driving the car during the summer. The $30k plus spent since then has certainly disqualified the car from the Grassroots Challenge until the year 30,000. Most "Hot Hatch" Mustangs are built for drag racing; this one was built with road courses in mind. In 2007, we lead the Indiana SAAC Pony Trails with this car to Salem Motor Speedway. There we lapped the big D .555 track, trailed by Ford GT's, original 289 and a 427 Cobras and Mustangs, vintage and modern from every era. That is all the track duty that the car has seen, the car has been used mainly to drive to local car shows, long distance cruises, and the occasional daily drive. Engine was gone through in 2011, all new top end, brand new D&D Tremec 5 speed manual transmission as well. There is less than 2,000 miles on drivetrain rebuild.
